Do you take bookings?

Are dogs welcome?

Yes — dogs are welcome, and there's a treat for them at the counter.

Can I work on a laptop?

Yes on weekdays, with power sockets at almost every table. On weekends, laptops are welcome after 2pm — until then the tables are kept for brunch.

FOOD

What is a 48-hour toastie?

A toastie on real sourdough that ferments for a full 48 hours before it touches the grill. Seven on the menu, from £7.95, grilled to order.

Do you serve brunch?

Yes — a short board including Turkish eggs, plus salads, wraps, smoothies and superfood bowls.

Do you have vegetarian options?

Yes — including the CAPRESE MELT toastie, the Halloumi Greek salad, and our smoothies and superfood bowls.

Can I see allergen information?

Full ingredients and allergens are available on request — ask at the counter or email hello@fortyeight.coffee.

Can I buy your sourdough to take home?

Yes — whole 48-hour loaves at the counter, every loaf dated: started and baked two days apart, always.

Is everything halal?

Yes — the whole menu is halal certified, and the Cafe is alcohol-free.

Do you serve alcohol?

No — we're an alcohol-free Cafe.

What makes your sourdough different?

Time, mostly. Every loaf ferments cold for a full 48 hours — that slow break-down is what makes proper sourdough gentler on the stomach than supermarket bread. It's organic Shipton Mill flour and a wild starter. No commercial yeast, nothing artificial.

COFFEE & SUBSCRIPTIONS

What coffee do you serve?

Our own Forty Eight coffees: HOUSE (Brazil — dark chocolate, almond, soft honey), ORIGIN 02 (Nicaragua — vanilla, orange peel, soft cocoa), a Swiss Water process DECAF (Brazil — dark chocolate, toasted almond, clean sweet finish). Roasted in small batches to our profiles, rested to each profile's clock, and released only by tasting. The cup we pour here is the same coffee we sell in the bag.

Why do you rest your coffee?

Fresh-off-the-roaster coffee isn't ready — it's still releasing gas that makes espresso harsh. Each of our coffees rests to its own clock (our House rests 10 days); it's cupped, and released only when it's ready. Fresh is a date. Ready is a decision.

Do you sell decaf?

Yes — a Swiss Water process decaf from Brazil (dark chocolate, toasted almond), decaffeinated with nothing but water. In the Cafe on any drink, and in 250g bags.

Do you have oat milk?

Yes — oat, almond, coconut and soy (+£0.40).
